Electrical Technology
Florida Academy’s Electrical Technology program is a nationally accredited, hands-on course designed to prepare students for immediate entry into the electrical industry. By combining classroom theory with real-world practice using modern tools, the program equips students to handle construction installation, facility repair, and maintenance. Graduates gain the technical expertise needed to operate and repair complex systems, ranging from residential and commercial power wiring to industrial motors and distribution panels.
This course introduces the student to topics necessary as a foundation in skilled trades and electrical. Topics include basic safety, OSHA 10-hour safety, and Electrical fundamentals.
The Electrical Basics course includes elemental to Electrical training. Topics include:

Mechanical Construction Professional
The Mechanical Construction Professional program is a comprehensive, hands-on training course designed to bridge the gap between electrical systems and HVAC/R technology. Spanning 8 to 12 months, the program focuses on the technical installation, maintenance, and repair of the essential systems that power and climate-control residential and commercial buildings.
The curriculum is split into two primary disciplines, ensuring students develop a versatile technical foundation:
- Electrical Systems: Students gain a deep understanding of electrical theory (including Ohm’s, Joule’s, and Kirchhoff’s laws) and the application of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Practical training includes assembling commercial and residential wiring, installing raceways, and wiring standard loads such as water heaters and pumps.
- HVAC & Refrigeration: The program covers heating and cooling cycles, refrigeration mechanics, and control systems. A heavy emphasis is placed on diagnostic troubleshooting for mechanical and electrical issues within HVAC units.
Training takes place in specialized labs that simulate real-world job-site conditions. This immersive environment allows students to practice assembling complex systems and solving the same mechanical challenges faced by industry professionals.
